Basketball Game Preview: Gothenburg Swedes vs. Minden Whippets

The Gothenburg Swedes just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Minden Whippets at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Minden will be up against a hot Gothenburg squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Gothenburg breezed by Valentine to the tune of 73-45 on Friday. Given the Swedes' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Valentine are ranked 198th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Minden, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 63-29 win over Cozad. The Whippets pushed the score to 57-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Haymakers cut but never quite recovered from.

Minden's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26 points. As for Gothenburg, their win bumped their record up to 16-1.
