Glacier is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will venture away from home to face off against the Big Sky Eagles at 3:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Glacier had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Great Falls on Thursday. The Wolfpack's pitchers stepped up to hand the Bison a 10-0 shutout. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Bison recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Olivia Gibbons and Ava Grady were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Gibbons pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Grady struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). At the plate, Gibbons went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Grady scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Warriner, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cazz Rankosky, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Glacier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Great Falls only posted an OBP of .176.
Meanwhile, Big Sky put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Hellgate. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Irene Griswold was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sadie McGuinn also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Glacier pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Big Sky, their record is now 4-0.
Glacier skirted past Big Sky 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolfpack since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
