Basketball Game Preview: Thornwell Saints vs. Ware Shoals Hornets

Thornwell hasn't had much luck against Ware Shoals recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Thornwell Saints will head out to challenge the Ware Shoals Hornets at 6:00 p.m.

Thornwell easily dispatched GREEN Upstate on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Thornwell fell just short of Abbeville by a score of 37-34 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Saints have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, Ware Shoals hadn't done well against McCormick recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Ware Shoals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 win over McCormick.

Thornwell better keep an eye on Stella Eichhorn. She was instrumental in Ware Shoals' win, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 26 rebounds. Eichhorn is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Bella Davis was another key player, putting up ten points.

Thornwell's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Ware Shoals, their record is now 7-10.

Thornwell ended up a good deal behind Ware Shoals in their previous meeting back in January, losing 44-29. Can Thornwell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
