Modesto took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Gregori, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Jaguars 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brianna Rueda made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Rueda was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Williams, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Luton, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Modesto has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-17 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Gregori, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-11.

As of now, neither Modesto nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
