Basketball Recap: Lake City Community Comes Up Short

Lake City Community played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 79-10 defeat at the hands of the Sierra Grande Panthers. The 14ers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-8.

It was another big night for Jaylyn Quezada, who almost dropped a double-double on 35 points and nine rebounds for Sierra Grande. That's the most boards Quezada has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahlea Garcia, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 17 points and eight steals.

Lake City Community's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sierra Grande, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Lake City Community will face off against Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sierra Grande, they will square off against Kim/Branson at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kim/Branson will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Sierra Grande surely won't give up without a fight.
