Basketball Recap: Summit Christian Academy Warriors vs. Varsity Opponent
The Summit Christian Academy Warriors came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Varsity Opponent with points to spare, taking the game 55-36. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Summit Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played on Saturday.
Summit Christian Academy was led to victory by Payton Hammond and Braden Wheeler. Hammond dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Wheeler dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Wheeler is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Quinten Mason, who scored six points.
Summit Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Varsity Opponent, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 364-1305-2.
Summit Christian Academy is on the road again on Friday and plays the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. As for Varsity Opponent, they will square off against the Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Belpre Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
