Baseball Game Preview: Pine Plains Bombers vs. Cairo-Durham Mustangs

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Pine Plains' offense. They came up short against Highland on Wednesday, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Bombers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Cairo-Durham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 18-0 to Hudson. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Cairo-Durham's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Pine Plains, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pine Plains has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cairo-Durham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
