Volleyball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Needham's Winning Streak

After a string of 12 wins, Needham's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Newton North Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Needham had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21.

Sadie Stants paced Needham's offense, picking up 16 kills. Stants got some help from Raleigh Dellamarggio and her 20 assists. Elizabeth Tam controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Player #9 was the offensive standout of the match as she had nine digs and one assist.

Needham suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 12-2. As for Newton North, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Needham wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Weymouth on the 16th. As for Newton North, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Wellesley on the 16th.
