Baseball Recap: Depew Victorious

Depew won against Maryvale last Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Wildcats walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Pioneer Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Jacob Scibetta was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Depew's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tyler Fryling, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Depew's record is now 10-8. As for Pioneer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Depew will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pioneer: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
