Softball Recap: Old Plank Christian Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Old Plank Christian Academy came into Thursday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the ED White Commanders a 21-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Defenders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Not much got past Carly Mobley, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep ED White off the board. What's more, Mobley gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Laiton Pechin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, eight RBI, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Sophia Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Five bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for ED White, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

As for ED White, they will head out on the road to square off against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. ED White is facing Riverside at the right time seeing as Riverside is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
