Portsmouth faced Barrington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Eagles 9-7. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Eagles back in April, they had to take a 12-0 defeat.
Emily Bronson and Barbara Rainey did most of the damage at the plate: Bronson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Rainey went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Bronson has posted since back in April. Kaylyn Aubuchon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
