Baseball Game Preview: Strasburg Rams vs. Madison County Mountaineers

Strasburg and Madison County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Madison County will be up against a hot Strasburg squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Rams walked away with a 10-7 win over Clarke County on Saturday.

Brady Knight was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Sherman, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Madison County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against Stonewall Jackson last Friday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Madison County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Strasburg, their win bumped their record up to 16-2.

Strasburg beat Madison County 8-4 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Mountaineers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
