Baseball Recap: Great Bridge Takes Down Hickory in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Great Bridge walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Hickory Hawks with a sharp 19-8 win on Wednesday. Considering the Wildcats have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Adam Bartley was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Cole Cinnamomd also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Great Bridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hickory only posted a batting average of .333.

Great Bridge pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hickory, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 16-6 record.

As of now, neither Great Bridge nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
