Softball Recap: Orosi Has No Trouble Against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Farmersville, Orosi was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears 17-10. The win was some much needed relief for the Cardinals as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Miah Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Soto, who went 2-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Krystyn Zamora, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Orosi always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Orosi's victory bumped their record up to 8-18-1. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orosi will venture away from home to challenge Lindsay at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, they will head out to face off against Orange Cove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
