Recap: Hope Academy Trojan Tigers vs. South Lake Eagles
It was a good run, but the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to South Lake 77-71. Hope Academy has struggled against South Lake recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Hope Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dwayne Foreman III. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points along with six assists and six steals. Foreman III hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Shine, who scored 17 points.
Jean Casimir was a one-man wrecking crew for South Lake as he almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Casimir scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was David PINA, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Hope Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-10. As for South Lake, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hope Academy will take on Vine Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hope Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 506 points over their last seven contests. As for South Lake, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Umatilla at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. South Lake is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.
