Softball Recap: Manchester Victorious

Manchester gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Perry 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Manchester has posted since April 18th.

Cassidy Perry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Manchester got a massive performance out of Alli Hodgkinson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Chloe White, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Manchester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matches.

Manchester's win bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Perry, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-14-1.

Looking ahead, Manchester will head out on the road to take on Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Perry, they will welcome Tuslaw at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
