Softball Recap: Hoosic Valley Hawks vs. Saratoga Central Catholic Saints
Hoosic Valley extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They lost 14-6 to the Saratoga Central Catholic Saints. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-6 back in April.
Ella Waldron was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.
As for Saratoga Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Considering they have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Saratoga Central Catholic's side, Paige Jaffe made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Jaffe was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lily Guidon was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Casey Cassier was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
