Baseball Game Preview: Mater Dei Monarchs vs. Paloma Valley Wildcats

The Mater Dei Monarchs will take on the Paloma Valley Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mater Dei 3.7, Paloma Valley 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Mater Dei turned things around against Orange Lutheran on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Lancers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Monarchs have posted against the Lancers since March 23, 2023.

Meanwhile, Paloma Valley waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Bison as they made off with an 8-1 win.

Paloma Valley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Mater Dei, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
