Baseball Game Preview: Kiel Raiders vs. Reedsville Panthers

The Kiel Raiders are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Reedsville Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Kiel is headed out to face Reedsville after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand Ripon a 10-0 shutout on Saturday.

Cade Voelker made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Edward LeMieux was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Reedsville hadn't done well against Brillion recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Sunday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Lions.

Like Kiel, Reedsville also got a great game from a two-way player: Kodie Bubolz. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Bubolz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Caleb Schwahn and Ben Prochnow did most of the damage at the plate: Schwahn scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Prochnow scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Logan Maertz, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Reedsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brillion only posted a batting average of .100.

Kiel took their win against Reedsville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
