Basketball Game Preview: Longmont Trojans vs. Montbello Warriors

The Longmont Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Montbello Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Longmont is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Longmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Mary's last Saturday.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaila Patterson, who posted 19 points. That was a full 43.2% of Longmont's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luna Ready, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Longmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Montbello played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 55-24 defeat at the hands of Northglenn. Having soared to a lofty 64 points in the game before, the Warriors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Longmont will have to contain Yaretzi Barraza as she made an impact in Montbello's last game. She put up ten points and five steals. Barraza is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Longmont's record is now 1-3. As for Montbello, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
