Baseball Recap: Thompson Valley Wins Going Away Against Greeley Central

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Thompson Valley and Greeley Central had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles blew past the Wildcats 18-4 on Saturday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Cameron Maki made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, Sam Engelland was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also got three hits, which is notable because Thompson Valley is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Beau Balliet, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Thompson Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley Central only managed three hits.

Thompson Valley's record now sits at 9-11. As for Greeley Central, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Thompson Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
