Hammond Morton has gone a perfect 6-0 against Lake Station Edison recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Governors will head out on the road to take on the Fighting Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Hammond Morton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Ei'Lani Herrera made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Juleeana Temores, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Analiya Feliciano was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Hammond Morton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Lake Station Edison's offense. They lost 21-0 to Washington Township on Wednesday. The Fighting Eagles haven't had much luck with the Senators recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Lake Station Edison's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Hammond Morton, their record now sits at 6-2.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hammond Morton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .562. However, it's not like Lake Station Edison struggles in that department as they've averaged .488. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Hammond Morton's way against Lake Station Edison when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Hammond Morton made off with a 19-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Governors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
