Baseball Game Preview: Creekside Knights vs. DeLand Bulldogs

The Creekside Knights will head out to face off against the DeLand Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Creekside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so DeLand's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Creekside's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Bishop Kenny by a score of 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won four in a row.

Creekside saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Schlegel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, DeLand waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Eagles.

DeLand's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Creekside, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.

Everything went Creekside's way against DeLand when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Creekside made off with an 11-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
