Baseball Game Preview: Mater Bay Academy Rays vs. Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs

Mater Bay Academy is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will take on the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. Mater Bay Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Archbishop Carroll will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Mater Bay Academy turned things around against Hialeah-Miami Lakes on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trojans, sneaking past 6-5. The Rays' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Carroll fell victim to Killian and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Cougars. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Mater Bay Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Archbishop Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5-1.

Mater Bay Academy suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Archbishop Carroll in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Mater Bay Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
