Basketball Game Preview: Immokalee Indians vs. Glades Central Raiders

Two dominant forwards in Timarian Howard and Jes'Tin Dortch are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Immokalee Indians will head out to challenge the Glades Central Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Immokalee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Immokalee came up short against Donahue Catholic and fell 56-49.

Despite the loss, Immokalee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Howard went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Howard is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gilbert Charles, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Glades Central came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Gators to the tune of 85-34. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Gators are ranked 810th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glades Central pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Immokalee, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
