Softball Recap: Pleasanton Comes Up Short

Pleasanton lost against Somerset back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Eagles fell 7-2 to the Bulldogs. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Scarlet Travis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pleasanton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aniya Carrillo, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Pleasanton's loss dropped their record down to 17-13-1. As for Somerset, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pleasanton is set to take on their familiar foe Pearsall at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Somerset will square off against rival Devine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 4.1, the Warhorses 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
