Recap: Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers vs. St. Joseph's Catholic Knights

If the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers were riding high off their 49-25 takedown of the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Christ Church Episcopal fell to St. Joseph's Catholic 49-44. Christ Church Episcopal was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. Joseph's Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Christ Church Episcopal lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Alexandria Bennon. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 45.5% of Christ Church Episcopal's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Caroline Johnson, who scored ten points along with three steals.

St. Joseph's Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Harper Greer out in front who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Adelia Stefanik was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds.

Christ Church Episcopal's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.

Christ Church Episcopal won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ware Shoals at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Ware Shoals focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Southside Christian at 6:00 p.m. Southside Christian's defense has only allowed 26.6 points per game this season, so St. Joseph's Catholic's offense will have their work cut out for them.
