Baseball Game Preview: Palm Desert Aztecs vs. Canyon Comanches

The Palm Desert Aztecs are taking a road trip to square off against the Canyon Comanches at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Palm Desert's tournament run continued when they took on Vista Murrieta on Friday. Palm Desert fell just short of Vista Murrieta by a score of 9-8. The Aztecs have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Stevie Hutchinson and Joseph Valdivia stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hutchinson went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Valdivia scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Hutchinson a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Mason Smith, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Canyon's offense. They came up short against Banning on Friday, falling 7-0.

Canyon also got a good showing from Cooper Stevenson, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.

Palm Desert's record is now 1-1. As for Canyon, their record now sits at 0-2.
