Baseball Recap: Cache Wins Going Away Against Pauls Valley

Cache barely beat Pauls Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-3 win on Monday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Reed Gillispie spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cache is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Cache saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was Smith's first of the season.

Cache has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pauls Valley, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
