Starkville is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Lafayette is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Yellowjackets will welcome the Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Starkville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Starkville and New Hope have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lafayette narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Tupelo 4-2.

Tanner Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Lafayette has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Starkville, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
