Softball Recap: Palmer Ridge Bears vs. Widefield Gladiators

Palmer Ridge lost to Widefield back in September of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Sunday. The Palmer Ridge Bears put the hurt on the Widefield Gladiators with a sharp 16-4 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by ten runs or more this season.

Ashlyn Short was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Short was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Savanah Martinez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Garcia, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Palmer Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 14 consecutive matches.
