 Mercer County was the  3-2 winner over Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] when they last played one another  back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Mercer County Golden Eagles fell just short of the Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans by a score of  5-4 on Monday. Mercer County has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Elsie Cook was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she  tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits.
 At the plate, Mercer County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Hallie Schreurs, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.  Gabriella McPeek was another key contributor,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and a  double.
 On Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge]'s side,  Mya Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 14 batters over  eight innings while giving up  four earned runs off   nine  hits (and only one walk). Brown has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in nine consecutive pitching appearances. Brown was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 Mercer County's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge], the  win for them keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
 The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Mercer County by a score of  8-5 later that day.
