Basketball Game Preview: Polk County Wolverines vs. Brevard Blue Devils

The Polk County Wolverines will square off against the Brevard Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Polk County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Polk County will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating East Rutherford, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. Polk County took down East Rutherford 62-43 on Friday. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Brevard's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Hendersonville 60-31.

Polk County pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Brevard, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Everything came up roses for Polk County against Brevard when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 72-32 win. Will Polk County repeat their success, or does Brevard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
