Recap: Leonardtown Raiders vs. Chopticon Braves

The Leonardtown Raiders were the 68-56 winner over the Chopticon Braves when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Leonardtown received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 59-45 to Chopticon.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Windell, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Aaron Green, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Leonardtown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Chopticon was led to victory by Braylon Harrison and Jordan Pernell. Harrison scored 16 points along with nine rebounds, while Pernell scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pernell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Iverson Hill, who scored six points.

Leonardtown's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Chopticon, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leonardtown will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against La Plata at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. La Plata will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Leonardtown is ranked 100th). As for Chopticon, they will head out on the road to face off against McDonough at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McDonough will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
