Basketball Recap: Piute Comes Up Short

Piute and Rich squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Piute had to settle for second. They fell 47-35 to the Rich Rebels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbirds of the 70-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

It was another big night for Ridge Lundgren, who shot 44% from the field to rack up 23 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals for Rich. Lundgren has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Drake Weston, who posted eight points along with seven boards and six assists.

Piute's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Rich, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 21-2.

Piute has already played their next matchup, a 60-55 loss against Valley on the 28th. As for Rich, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 81-68 victory against Tabiona on the 28th.
