Basketball Game Preview: Bowie Pirates vs. Maud Cardinals

The Bowie Pirates will face off against the Maud Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bowie is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 13 games.

Bowie will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Rivercrest, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Bowie blew past Rivercrest 59-17 on Friday. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Maud was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 35-31 to Harts Bluff. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, Maud saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mallorie Bishop posted 21 points. That was a full 67.7% of Maud's points, marking the 22nd time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Bowie is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 21-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Maud, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
