Monroe had to settle for second on Wednesday, but Miguel Gonzalez sure wasn't going down easily. Despite the defeat, Gonzalez was still locked in as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Even though Gonzalez couldn't lead Monroe over Grant, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are 7-2 against the Lancers going back to April of 2019, a lead they'll look to extend.
