Basketball Game Preview: Brookhaven Panthers vs. Humphreys County Cowboys

The Brookhaven Panthers will take on the Humphreys County Cowboys in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brookhaven has given up an average of 50.9 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Brookhaven is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Thursday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-54 heartbreaker at the hands of Mendenhall. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Tigers are ranked 28th).

Despite their loss, Brookhaven saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. NICHOLAS GAMBLE, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards, was perhaps the best of all. GAMBLE has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of DEMARION CAMERON, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-43, which was the final score in Humphreys County's tilt against Greenville on Tuesday.
