Softball Recap: Tustin Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Tustin can now relate to. They fell just short of the Orange Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Tillers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Emery Diaz was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 20 batters over ten innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

In other batting news, Samantha Reyes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Tustin's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Orange, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-11.

As of now, neither Tustin nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
