Basketball Recap: Heide Trask Takes a Loss

If Heide Trask was riding high fresh off their 41-20 takedown of South Columbus last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Heide Trask Titans were beaten by the East Columbus Gators 77-32 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Gators: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the defeat, Heide Trask saw an underclassman step up: freshman Scarlett Dickson posted five points and six boards. Alexis Wilson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Heide Trask smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

East Columbus was led to victory by Malia Graham and Malayah Hines. Graham dropped a triple-double with 28 points, 13 rebounds, and ten steals, while Hines went 12-for-17 on her way to 36 points and six steals. That's the most points Graham has posted since back in March of 2024. Rylie Graham was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Heide Trask's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for East Columbus, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Coincidentally, Heide Trask and East Columbus will both be playing West Columbus the next time they take the court. Heide Trask will host West Columbus at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while East Columbus will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
