Volleyball Recap: Clovis West Falls Short of Buchanan in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Clovis West couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Buchanan Bears on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Golden Eagles have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

While Clovis West was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Buchanan's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-21, 25-23.

Brooklyn Lopez paced Clovis West's offense, picking up 11 kills. Lopez got some help from Eve Dixon and her 28 assists. Courtlin Pulliam controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Buchanan found their leader in sophomore Penny Garcia, who had 19 assists and three digs. Those 19 assists set a new season-high mark for Garcia.

Clovis West's loss dropped their record down to 27-13. As for Buchanan, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-8 record this season.

Clovis West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buchanan, they will face off against Clovis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
