Baseball Recap: Clearfield Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Clearfield had won five straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 11-10 to make it six. They put the hurt on the Roy Royals with a sharp 14-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won eight in a row.

Taven Swartz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Swartz was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Clearfield got a massive performance out of Hudson Meyer, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Meyer is becoming a predictor of the Falcons' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Logan Fenn, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

As for Roy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On Roy's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Vorwaller, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clearfield will square off against Box Elder at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bees will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Roy, they will take on Hillcrest at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
