Softball Recap: Cox Mill Takes a Loss

Cox Mill dropped to 6-11 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the West Cabarrus Wolverines, falling 20-10. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Cox Mill saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evie Flores, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Flores has hit this season. Kinslee Ellington was another, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for West Cabarrus, they moved to 5-8 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On West Cabarrus' side, Kamryn Weaks was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Weaks has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cadyn Ready, who went 2-for-5 with four runs and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cox Mill will take on rival Harding University at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Cabarrus is set to face off against their familiar foe Hickory Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
