Basketball Recap: Heide Trask Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Trey Paffenroth and Gio Driggers

Heide Trask lost against North Brunswick back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Heide Trask Titans came up short against the North Brunswick Scorpions, falling 99-73. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (61), the Titans still had to take the loss.

Heide Trask's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gio Driggers, who went 7 for 12 en route to 18 points, and Trey Paffenroth, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists. Paffenroth is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was KJ Murphy, who posted 11 points.

Leading North Brunswick to victory were Jack Baker and Kane Jenrette. Baker went 10 of 14 on his way to 25 points and four steals, while Jenrette went 5 for 6 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and six assists. Jenrette is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrell Simpson, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

The defeat snapped Heide Trask's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-9 record. As for North Brunswick, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.

Heide Trask has already played their next game, a 60-50 win against East Columbus on the 17th. As for North Brunswick, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-71 victory against Topsail on the 17th.
