Volleyball Recap: Maranacook Comes Up Short

Maranacook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Edward Little Red Eddies, falling 3-0. If the Black Bears were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Red Eddies when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maranacook took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-4, 25-9, 25-12.

Edward Little's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayleigh Merrill, who had six aces. Merrill has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Maranacook's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Edward Little, their record is now 7-2.

Maranacook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Orono on the 4th. As for Edward Little, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Nokomis on the 6th.
