Baseball Recap: Early Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Early ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Halfway Cardinals. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won seven in a row.

Conor Stockton was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Michael Doyle also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory got Early back to even at 2-2. As for Halfway, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-3.

Early and Halfway will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Early will challenge rival Greenwood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Halfway is set to square off against their familiar foe Climax Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
