Volleyball Recap: Village Christian Crusaders vs. Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks
Village Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks. The Crusaders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Nighthawks from their previous meeting back in September of 2017.
Victoria Ann Miller paced Village Christian's offense, picking up 14 kills. Ann Miller got some help from Vivian Cherella and her 15 assists. Eileen Herrera controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Leading Ironwood Ridge to victory were Marcella Landers and Lydia Litkenhus. Landers had six digs and three aces, while Litkenhus had 30 assists and one block. Those three aces gave Landers a new career-high.
Village Christian now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Ironwood Ridge, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-9 record.
Village Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Silverado on the 20th. As for Ironwood Ridge, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Foothill on the 20th.
