Softball Recap: Nardin Academy Find Success

Nardin Academy was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the St. Mary's Lancers. This was payback for the Gators, who suffered a 5-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Abigail McGrath spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Cherry, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Kara Krupski was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

The win got Nardin Academy back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Nardin Academy will look to defend their home field on Monday against Nichols at 4:30 p.m. As for St. Mary's, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.8 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
