Basketball Recap: Joel Richter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Central over Whiteland

East Central and Whiteland squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but East Central had to settle for second. They came up short against the Whiteland Warriors, falling 59-33. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

East Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Joel Richter, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cole Reynolds, who posted eight points and three steals.

It was another big night for Ethan Edwards, who shot 69% from the field to rack up 27 points and three steals for Whiteland. Gavin Stubbe was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

East Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Whiteland, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-11.

East Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whiteland, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-59 win against Columbus East on the 8th.
