Softball Game Preview: Seffner Christian Crusaders vs. Grace Christian Patriots

The Seffner Christian Crusaders will face off against the Grace Christian Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Seffner Christian will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Friday, then bounced right back against Indian Rocks Christian on Thursday. The Crusaders blew past the Eagles 11-4. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Allison Baston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Eliana Serrano was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tenley Newman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Seffner Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian got the win against Oasis Christian on Friday by a conclusive 16-6. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Grace Christian and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Seffner Christian, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
